Lenovo has gone big at the recent IFA 2015 tech expo in Berlin by lauching the world’s first dual front cameras smartphone: Lenovo Vibe S1.
Lenovo Vibe S1 can be easily termed as the selfie phone.
The front panel of Lenovo Vibe S1 has 8MP and 2MP resolution; the former captures the image while the latter adds the depth-of-field effect to the image by blurring the background. We have seen a similar setup earlier too, but only in rear cameras.
In a statement, Lenovo said, “After taking a selfie with both cameras, there are various options to modify the selfie by selecting from a number of built-in photo editing tools. ‘Blur’ allows refocusing anywhere on the seflie (up to 3 focal plains) or adding a ‘bokeh’ effect to the background to stylize a selfie or simply to get rid of a photo bomber. With ‘Cut Out’, people can be cropped out of a selfie and then placed on any other image, and even on a photo taken with the rear camera of the Vibe S1 smartphone.”
The Lenovo Vibe S1 smartphone features a 5-inch full-HD (1080×1920) display and runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop). Powered by 64-bit octa-core MediaTek MT6752 processor and 3GB RAM, the phone comes with 32GB internal storage. Users can slip in microSD cards of up to 128GB capacity for more storage space.
While the front camera setup of Vibe S1 is quite unique, Lenovo has gone with a pretty standard 13MP camera, backed by dual-tone flash, on the back. This metal-body smartphone measures 7.8mm in thickness, weighs 132 grams and packs a 2,50mAh battery. Lenovo Vibe S1 will be available in Pearl White and Midnight Blue colours and supports 4G connectivity.
Lenovo said that Vibe S1 will hit the market starting November at $299.
Along with Vibe S1, Lenovo also launched two Android 5.1 (Lollipop)-based smartphones, named Vibe P1 and P1m, at IFA 2015. The key feature of the two smartphones are their battery packs: While Vibe P1 has a 5,000mAh battery, the Vibe P1m smartphone has a 4,000mAh battery, with fast-charging function.
