German luxury car maker BMW launched the new BMW X6 in India on Thursday. The BMW X6 xDrive40d will cost Rs 1,15,00,000 (ex-showroom) and will be available across India as Completely Built-Up units (CBU). Speaking on the occasion, President BMW Group India Philipp von Sahr said BMW established the Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) segment with the introduction of BMW X6 and continues its remarkable success story. “The BMW X6 was the first of its kind and the second generation once again perfectly combines quintessential BMW X qualities with elegance of a BMW coupe. The all-new BMW X6 with the M Sport package sees BMW once again setting the benchmark for extravagant, emotive design, luxurious interiors and extensive customisation options. The sporty exterior of a coupe and equally impressive dynamism and agility makes the all-new BMW X6 the most attractive and distinctive car both on the road and off the beaten track.”
The design of the X6 combines quintessential BMW X qualities with the grace of a BMW Coupe. The front view is dominated by a wide kidney grille and large front air inlets with horizontal chrome trims, horizontal lines along with rear L-shaped taillights with three – dimensional LED Adaptive Light banks emphasise the wide stance and convey a powerful, solid appearance. The interior boasts of subtle elegance than its predecessor. The sense of exclusive sportiness is generated by the hallmark BMW driver oriented design of the cockpit, the innovative control and display elements, elevated seating position and lines which streak dynamically from the instrument panel into the door panels to form a ring around the interior. Special interior colours, exclusive trims and standard Dakota or optional Nappa leather upholstery. Despite its elegant coupé character, the X6 is surprisingly spacious. With the seat backrest in an upright position, the luggage compartment in the BMW X6 offers 580 litres of storage space. Depending on various requirements, the three sections of the backrests can be folded down in a 40:20:40 split and offers impressive 1,525 liters of luggage space when all three sections are folded down. The BMW TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder in-line diesel engine impresses with outstanding responsiveness and agile power delivery at any engine speed and astonishing efficiency. An output of 230kW/313 hp produces a maximum torque of 600 Nm at 1,500 – 2500 rpm and accelerates from 0-100 km/hr in just 5.8 seconds to a top speed of 240 km/h. The new eight-speed sport automatic transmission stands out with its fast-shifting ability. The driver can also take over manual control or gear changes using shift paddles. The X6 is available in Alpine White as non-metallic paintwork and in the following four metallic paintworks: Carbon Black, Flamenco Red Brilliant Effect, Space Grey and Mineral White.
